2017 saw a lot of new phones entering the market. With increased customer demand and more modern technology being introduced every day, the new smartphones also came with a lot of improvements and differences. As their ritual, iPhone released a new phone in September.

The phone hat huge ratings even before being released because there were rumors of the phone not having a headphone jack. On the other hand, Huawei released the 8th phone in their P series which came with many features at a reasonable price.

Hardware and Design

The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 has a large 5.2-inch screen which is still very comfortable to hold even with the larger size. The rear of the phone is made of glass which gives it a premium feel. The curved and smooth design sits very comfortably in hand.

The phone has thin bezel which even increases its premium design. On the top of the phone, there is a front-facing camera and an LED to alert you about any new notification. The phone has no physical home button. On the other hand, iPhone 7 still supports the design that is very much similar to that of iPhone 6.

The bezel is quite thought and chunky which makes the screen size smaller at 4.7 inches. There are many colors available in Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, and Black but Matte black seems to be the best oneWhile the Huawei device is made of glass rear, Apple iPhone has a metal back which makes it more durable. Regarding design, Apple has to bring changes and keep up with the new trends.

Head Phone Jack

The Huawei P8 Lite has the good old headphone jack in which you can plug your 3.5 mm earphones and enjoy music. iPhone 7 decided to get rid of the headphone jack. The phone now comes with air pods in the box. Air pods are Apple’s wireless headphones. There is also an adapter in the box that you can attach to your phone and then plug in your earphone. But you will not be able to listen to music and charge your phone at the same time.

Home Button

Both the devices do not have a physical home button. Huawei uses fingerprint scanner instead to provide functionality. Apple, on the other hand, has introduced the Tactic Engine which is a fantastic function. Despite the absence of a physical home button, every time you touch in the lower portion of the screen, the Tactic engine will trick your mind into thinking that you are pressing a physical home button. It is that good. In this department, iPhone 7 is a definite winner.

iPhone has the same screen as the previous version, known commonly as Retina in Apple’s language. It has a resolution of 1334×750 with a pixel density of 326 PPI. The colors are very sharp on the screen, and even the black tones look quite right on the screen. The only problem may be with whites that give a pink hue.

In comparison, the Huawei device has a high resolution with IPS display. The best thing is that the screen can go bright which makes it easier to use in the sunlight. An additional feature is that you can change the hues of the display according to the environment you are in.

You can make the shades brighter, warmer or colder to suit the needs of lighting and atmosphere. iPhone has an excellent display, but it still lags behind without the AMOLED display that most Android devices use.

Apple has used the new A10 Fusion in their iPhone 7 which makes it quite a powerful device despite the same old 2 GB RAM. This is the first Apple device with a quad-core CPU. You can open multiple tabs or apps open at the same time, and it will not affect the Speed of your phone even a bit.

Such a powerful device is also ideal for playing high-end games without worrying about the phone lagging.

On the other hand, Huawei used the HiSilicon Kirin 665 process. This has eight cores accompanied by a 3 GB RAM for extra speed. This is quite good for normal functioning, but it can in no way defeat the fast and smooth performance of the iPhone 7’s A10 fusion.

Huawei comes with 32 GB onboard storage which can be increased to 256 GB by adding external storage through a micro SD card.
iPhone 7 also comes with built-in storage up to 256 GB and does not support external storage.

iPhone 7 camera comes with some advanced features like Optical Image Stabilization and new six optic lenses. The larger 1.8 aperture lets more light in which means that you can take bright and crisp pictures even in low light environments. There is a front 7MP camera that is quite suitable for selfies and FaceTime.

Huawei has a 12 MP rear and an 8 MP front camera both of which give fantastic results. The results may be a little dull or dingy in low light backgrounds. This camera also has different modes and features which the iPhone doesn’t. However, the iPhone forms the blurry background in a DSLR style which adds depth to the picture. This is missing in P8 Lite.

Battery Life

Huawei wins the better battery competition with its 3000 mAh battery that can last the whole day. Apple is still a little behind in this department as the phone can last up to 8 to 10 hours on average usage.
On the other hand, iPhone is water resistant which means it can stay into a meter of water for half an hours. P8 Lite does not have this feature nor does it have dust resistance.
In conclusion, both the phones are quite right in their way. However, iPhone 7 is on a pricier side with a price range of $600 while the Huawei provided these features at a minimal price of $150.
